Royal Caribbean announced on Thursday, the planned debut date of the first Royal Beach Club after receiving approval from the government of the Bahamas.

The 17-acre destination experience will be built on the western end of Paradise Island in Nassau and will feature what the cruise line calls the "ultimate beach day" experience.

The project is being completed in close coordination with the Bahamian government and will feature a public-private partnership in which the citizens of the Bahamas own up to 49% equity in the beach club. Local businesses and entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to take a majority of the roles in management and experiences at the facility.

"The Bahamas has been a phenomenal partner since the very start, when they became our first port of call more than 50 years ago,” said Michael Bayley, president and CEO, Royal Caribbean International. “As we continue to bring millions of visitors to experience attractions throughout Nassau each year, The Royal Beach Club at Paradise Island is the next bold adventure in Royal Caribbean’s commitment to both increasing tourism in The Bahamas and delivering memorable vacations to our guests.”

The beach club will include private cabanas, pools, and Bahamian culture including local architecture and views of the turquoise waters and white sand beaches of Nassau. Food will have a local flare as well according to the press release.

Royal Caribbean has purchased 13 acres of land and will couple that will four acres of Crown Land. The Crown Land will be contributed as equity in the new venture and the government will receive an appropriate return on investment based off of the profits of the destination.

The cruise line says more information will be revealed as the project draws nearer to completion but the target to open is 2025.
