Day 5 of CruiseNReview's ChristmasNTheCaribbean stops in Castries, St. Lucia
Many of our ChristmasNTheCaribbean group cruise clients were looking forward to our stop in St. Lucia. It's a volcanically formed island that features stunning mountain peaks among deep blue water. The views go on for days.
We booked everyone on a catamaran cruise to see The Pitons. Two stunning twin volcanic mountain peaks that have become one of the post card images of the Caribbean. We had been on this tour before and the crew was excellent, provided plenty of drinks, and the tour also included some stops at beaches and a trip through magical Marigot Bay.
Our cruise set sail not far from the ship and we were off down the stunning coastline of St. Lucia. We stopped in Marigot Bay first. It's a deep cove that has calm beaches, restaurants, and docks for those sailing by that want to grab a bite or pint in the majestic bay. Video is below:
We then stopped at a beach a little further down the coast. It wasn't the prettiest beach in the world but it was in a quaint cove and the dark sand made for a unique water color. It was fun to cool off with a quick swim.
After that, we set sail towards the highlight of the tour, The Pitons! On the way, the DJ played great music and the drinks were flowing. This was a fun way to celebrate two our guests that were having their birthday and anniversary. That's right, Melanie and Phil Davis have the same birthday and were married on that day. Happy anniversary and birthday Mel and Phil, we are so happy you chose to spend it with us in the Caribbean!
There's nothing that prepares you for the first time you round the cape and see enormous mountain peaks rising out of the royal blue sea. For some of our crew, it was a bucket list item to see. The weather had cleared out perfectly and the views were amazing. It's like its not even real or something out of a magazine. If you have never been to St. Lucia, this is a must do on your first visit to the island.
Our crew enjoyed hanging out on the net of the catamaran and taking in the beautiful views. If you are stopping at St. Lucia as a port of call, we'd recommend doing the catamaran sailing to The Pitons with this tour company. We've been with them multiple times and they've never let us down. Boat is the best way to get to The Pitons unless you like hiking and car sickness.
Back on Resilient Lady, it was the night of the onboard highlight of any Virgin Voyages cruise, Scarlet Night!
Everyone, and we mean everyone, decks out in their red and gets set for an evening of fun that commences in an outdoor pool party. It's Virgin Voyages' version of formal night but it's really a "wear what you want as long as it's red!" night. We even saw one guy wearing the red bed blanket as a toga!
Our group looked stunning in their red and we went to the "Another Rose" dinner show for supper and a show. As with most shows on Virgin Voyages, it's hard to describe but it was wild with some very risqué undertones that our group found to be hilarious. The food was good, the drinks were included, and everyone had a really good time once you got onboard with the extreme nature of the show. We'll leave it at that.
After the show, it was time to head to the pool deck for the Scarlet Night party outside! The DJ kept the tunes rolling and all the guests were ready to celebrate in their red attire. The participation in Scarlet Night is always impressive to me compared to the participation in other themed nights on other cruise lines. If you aren't wearing red, you will be out of place on Scarlet Night.
The party was enjoyable and lasted until late at night. It was a great atmosphere on a great night and was a highlight of our onboard experience so far.
Our crew was naturally tired, full of food (and drink), and ready to spend the next day in Antigua, so we hit the bed to get some rest.
Coming Up Next!
Day six of our ChristmasNTheCaribbean hosted group cruise takes us to Antigua. Our group will be taking a private excursion to Blake's favorite beach (without Blake, unfortunately), Ffryes Beach. I can't wait to show it to everyone!
