Why? Virgin Voyages is likely the most intriguing of the main stream cruise lines right now. Richard Branson's young company has changed the line of thinking when it comes to "traditional" cruising. The cruise line is adults only with unique takes on staterooms and onboard experience. There are no drink packages but rather pre-paid bar tabs, al la carte pricing, and many trips include a certain amounts of drink credits.
The reason we chose this itinerary and cruise was a three-part decision: the cruise line, the itinerary, and the date. Virgin Voyages is getting great reviews and provides a unique experience than that of the main stream popular companies. A five-night cruise that has great destinations like the Dominican Republic and Bimini over Labor Day is a great attraction. A built in day off of work with five days sailing on a beautiful new ship to unique and relatively rare ports of call is just what the doctor ordered.
We recommend this cruise for young-to-middle aged couples that enjoy a little more of a lively atmosphere similar to that of Miami and South Beach. Keep in mind that reviews on entertainment have been positive, but almost all universally label it as edgy. The ships are new, the experience will be different, why not live a little?
The pricing is also affordable given the amenities and included onboard perks. At a little over $700 per person for interior staterooms and balconies just over $1100 per person, this is a competitive price amongst all cruises while being a great deal on this particular cruise line.
